In 2026\, the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned those convictions and ordered a new trial. This pre-trial hearing is one of several proceedings leading up to Murdaugh’s retrial\, which is currently scheduled to begin on April 5\, 2027.

Jury selection is now currently scheduled for September 2026. \nJury selection for Myrtle Beach Pastor JP Miller’s federal trial will be held at the McMillian Federal Building in Florence\, South Carolina with the Honorable Joseph Dawson III presiding\, according to court documents. \nMiller\, whose estranged wife Mica Francis Miller was found dead in April 2024 has pleaded not guilty to 2 federal charges of cyberstalking and lying to investigators. \nJP Miller was served with divorce papers two days before Mica was found dead from a gunshot wound in a North Carolina park. Authorities ruled her death a suicide\, but investigators unraveled a paper trail of evidence documenting alleged physical\, emotional\, sexual\, medical and spiritual abuse up until her death. \nA pre-trial conference — where JP Miller can enter a change of plea or request a trial — has been rescheduled for September 2026. \nAll motions to suppress or continue (delay the trial) must be submitted one week before the pretrial hearing.
