The final briefs are filed in Alex’s murder conviction appeal. The date for oral arguments has not been announced. 

Alex is sentenced to 40 years for the federal financial crimes. 

Justice Jean Toal rules that Alex cannot have a new trial based on jury tampering claims. Toal opines that while the court clerk’s comments were “fleeting and foolish” they do not constitute tampering.

Alex pleads guilty to 22 of the state financial crimes. Eleven days later he is sentenced to 27 years in prison.

Alex’s attorneys file a motion for a new trial, alleging that the clerk of court, Becky Hill, tampered with the jury during his trial to ensure a guilty verdict.
