A Tragic Saga Like No Other

Award-winning journalist Mandy Matney has been investigating the Murdaugh family since that fateful night in 2019. The Murdaugh Murders Podcast was first published on June 22, 2021 as Matney pried deep into the crimes surrounding the Murdaugh family.

For nearly 100 years, one family traded influence and held power in the South Carolina Lowcountry until a fatal boat crash involving an allegedly intoxicated heir-apparent shed sunlight on a true crime saga like no other.

The now-infamous Murdaugh family is at the center of a litany of criminal investigations into fraud, obstruction of justice, the 2021 double homicides of Paul Murdaugh and his mother Maggie, the 2015 murder of young Stephen Smith, the suicide-for-hire plot of family patriarch Alex Murdaugh (who has since been convicted of Paul & Maggie’s murders) and a vast insurance scheme that preyed on the region’s most vulnerable citizens.

Matney’s podcast, ranked #1 globally in 2021, provides unmatched insight into the horrific deaths, botched investigations and newly-uncovered crimes that are all interconnected.

Every corner of the justice system seems to be connected to this vile web of deceit, murder and corruption. Now featuring Co-host Liz Farrell, you’ll follow along in real time from South Carolina as their exclusive sources guide listeners on a journey to expose the truth wherever it leads.

The #1 True Crime Podcast that started it all..

Meet The Team

Host Mandy Matney

Mandy Matney is an award-winning journalist and author originally from Kansas City, Kansas who has worked for newspapers in Missouri, Illinois, and South Carolina before launching Luna Shark Productions and two chart topping podcasts, Murdaugh Murders Podcast & Cup of Justice.

Matney’s deep relationships with those at the heart of a story, especially victims, provide her unmatched insight.  Matney’s reporting uses a victim-first approach to journalism that is not only the right thing to do, but it is what her audiences crave.
Matney’s first podcast sparked a global analysis of the “Good Ole Boy System” in South Carolina, the different set of rules for the privileged, laid bare. Matney’s approach exposed a system that illuminates the substantially different applications of justice for families without connections to the highest reaches of power.
Throughout her career, Matney has sought to expose the truth, wherever it leads. Matney believes in journalism that is honest, focuses on justice for victims, and holds power to account.

Mandy is a KU grad with deep roots in the Sunflower State, but currently lives on Hilton Head Island with her husband David and pup Luna where she enjoys beach life.
