Raise Your Voices. DO JUSTICE. Demand Accountability!

“The mission of the Office of the Attorney General is to fulfill its constitutional, statutory, and historical duties by diligently and ethically defending the rule of law and serving the State of South Carolina.”
Happy Sunday!
Speaking with Bishop Venters this week was perhaps one of the most challenging and inspiring interviews we have had the pleasure of recording. Bishop’s ability to show courage in the face of overwhelming grief and systematic failures is enviable and encouraging.
I say encouraging because during our conversation on Cup of Justice #135, Bishop shared her plans to remain undaunted by Judge Young’s decision to free her mother Sara Lynn’s alleged murderer. And we’re right there with her…
I set a personal goal to help push the Change.org Petition over 1,000 signatures and that goal was reached early on Saturday morning. I am proud of our Premium community and greater listening audience for heeding the call to action and amplifying this much-needed message to Attorney General Alan Wilson. The site shows names of recent signers and I recognize A TON of Premium Members so THANK YOU!!!! If you have yet to sign the petition, please consider participating to help the AG’s office realize how important this case is to his gubernatorial campaign.
By now, I’m sure y’all know my opinions on various political actors around my state and elsewhere. But this isn’t about politics, its about holding public officials accountable for their record in one position, while they are campaigning for the next… and in this case…. loftier position. Election cycles provide We The People an opportunity to have our voices heard on the subjects that truly matter to us as politicians parade around flashing how much they deserve another chance or a promotion into the highest reaches of government authority.
So please, click the image below to join me in showcasing our collective desire for Attorney General Alan Wilson to PRIORITIZE MURDER CASES and DO HIS JOB as Chief Criminal Prosecutor…

And while Bishop’s case is horrible, it is unfortunately not unique. Friday, Liz and I sat down with Sarah Turney for next week’s Cup of Justice episode. Sarah is a force of nature and shining example of being a Voice For Justice in her own sister’s disappearance and alleged murder by Sarah’s father (and convicted ‘manifesto-writing would-be bomber felon’) Michael Turney.
Voices for Justice is the true crime podcast hosted by Sarah Turney and Season One explores the story of Sarah’s sister, missing teen, Alissa Turney. Voices for Justice doesn’t just tell stories in need of justice it asks you, the listener, to be a part of getting justice for the victims discussed.
We applaud Sarah’s call to action, inviting listeners to not just listen to the stories, but to be a voice for the victims.
In that vein of supporting victims, Sarah’s new podcast: Media Pressure amplifies the untold story of Maura Murray where Maura’s sister Julie Murray hosts. Maura disappeared without a trace on February 9, 2004. Yet countless questions remain, and her family continues to fight for resolution. Her mysterious disappearance is a story that strangers have told hundreds of times. But absent in the story you’ve heard are the voices of those who knew Maura, those closest to the investigation.
Hitting #1 on Apple Podcasts, Media Pressure Podcast aims to cut out the noise and reveal who Maura Murray really was through exclusive interviews, an in-depth look into the investigation efforts, and an exploration of the impact on those left behind.
As we discussed with Meredith and Jim Bannon from the Bannon Law Group in our Part Two of the Premium Dive into Jury Duty and on COJ #136 next week with Sarah Turney…. Criminal prosecutions for murder are often bungled because prosecutors are not prepared.
The similarities between Michael Colucci’s prosecution and Michael Turney’s prosecutions are stark and entirely preventable if prosecutors took their jobs and their duties seriously. I firmly believe it is our job at LUNASHARK, as journalists, and as We The People, to hold public officials and agencies accountable and hopefully the result is that we DO JUSTICE for victims and those left behind.
We have a jam-packed week ahead and we hope you’re planning to join us in Hampton, SC for Walking With Stephen just 2 weeks away.
As always, your support is immensely appreciated and keeps us motivated to expose the truth wherever it leads, give voice to victims and get the story straight.
Stay Tuned, Stay Pesky, and Stay In The Sunlight…
