Thank you to our incredible team and community for supporting investigative journalism and helping us expose the truth wherever it leads, give voice to victims and get them story straight. And thanks to you we’re able to do it all against the odds and without the hinderance of a legacy media corporation and affiliated stakeholders holding us back!
When we started this journey at our kitchen table back in the summer of 2021, I was juggling a day job at a trecherous former employer and treating severe depression but driven to find answers in one huge spider web of cases and co-conspirators with Alex Murdaugh at the center.
You won't lag behind, because you'll have the speed. You'll pass the whole gang and you'll soon take the lead. Wherever you fly, you'll be best of the best.
Yes, in those first couple years, we broke free from bottom feeders in disguise, took MMP to #1 in the world, saw four men sentenced (or recaptured) for heinous crimes against vulnerable people, launched a second #1 Global Hit Pod with Cup of Justice, and poured sunlight on an entire justice System in desperate need of a reset. But where would we go from there…. While I’m sure some will think it childish, throughout it all David and I would sometimes remind ourselves of that Dr.Suess rhyme… “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”!!!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
And we chose a direction facing the hard truths and some very dark places. After 93 episodes on our first season named Murdaugh Murders Podcast, we changed our name to True Sunlight and expanded our scope. And had evil doers actively attempting to drag us down, or impede truth from seeing the sunlight.
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
True Sunlight is the antithesis of True Crime. True Sunlight values accuracy over access journalism.

True Sunlight is the intersection of True Crime, journalism and systematic corruption. And we had a mission, not to different from the old one, but applied to new cases across the country.

True Sunlight continues to shed light on Stephen Smith’s case and Murdaugh's co-conspirators (even to this day with Murdaugh-Adjacent characters like Peter Strauss and Becky Hill entering courthouses destined for federal prison or to the criminal defendant’s table respectively). My partner in true crime, journalist Liz Farrell, and I took on new cases while still pursuing justice for those we met along the way. We added new victims to the docket… From Grant & Gracie Solomon, to Sara-Lynn Colucci, Chloe Bess, Dallas Stoller, Mica Francis, Christa Bauer Gilley, Scott Spivey and more voices soon...
KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS
True Sunlight and COJ continued to impress on the charts, but the calls to action were our aim and focus. We called on listeners and members to Stay Pesky and take action… We changed the way judges are elected in South Carolina… a small change but change none-the less. We helped put Jeroid price back in prison, and Bowen Turner is behind bars not prowling drunk on the golf course. We now see Becky Hill getting the judicial attention she deserves for all the chaos she aided and we know others could be on their way to proper places in the system soon.
But on you will go

Throughout the last 4 years we made a lot of enemies who like the status quo and benefit from the chaos in lopsided justice. Unlike others who get a pass for bad reporting we keep ourselves to a higher standard and wolves lie in wait to pounce on it. And while truth and the law is on our side, we dive into the fray because of y’all: Our AMAZING Membership Community which grew tremendously since our member drive this week. Thank you to all the premium members who are receiving this email blast for the first time. And even though we are taking a break from True Sunlight next week are looking forward to returning with gusto on #101. And we not are dragging our feet, but rather we aim to avoid grinding down into burnout. While building our strength, we’re taking moments to review the mountains of (very expensive) FOIA evidence we just received. We’re organizing and putting it all into context…. Because that’s what Truth needs today… context. Not regurgitated talking points from agencies and individuals that have huge sums of money and vast amounts of power on the line.
And if anything sticks in your head after reading this message, I hope it’s that you all are with us every step of the way. Doing the hard things… making a difference.
