Alex and Maggie receive a text in the Murdaugh group chat from Randy Murdaugh that says:
“Daddy was just seen by the pulmonologist in Savannah. His opinion is dramatically different from the other doctors. He thinks daddy has pneumonia and needs to be hospitalized to be treated for pneumonia. He thinks there could be an obstruction but is more confident that it is all or mostly pneumonia. Daddy is being admitted to Candler Saint Joseph hospital now. He will have a study done to see whether or not there is an obstruction and his treatment will be tailored accordingly. Right now his pulmonologist does not believe that he will be getting radiation treatment, and in fact the pulmonologist says that the palliative radiation treatment to try to open up the airway is a Hail Mary and in his opinion most likely would not work. If he is right and this is pneumonia, is much more treatable and can certainly give the immunotherapy a chance to work. Although it was not addressed, if this is not an obstruction, the whole prediction of less than a few weeks, would not be true assuming dad can get past this pneumonia. Is my understanding that the study will be done this afternoon to determine whether it is an obstruction and John or I will update as soon as we know more.”
During Alex’s 2023 homicide trial, CFO Jeanne Seckinger testified that her confrontation with Alex about the missing Farris fee was interrupted by some kind of message or call about Randolph Murdaugh’s health, meaning this text could have been what interrupted the conversation and effectively shut down the missing money conversation.
