Help Wanted: Voice Your Complaints about David Miller

South Carolina Second Circuit Solicitor David Miller — the same solicitor who dropped the charges against Bowen Turner after one of his alleged victims, Dallas Stoller, died and couldn’t testify — is running for a circuit judge seat and time is running out for the public to voice their concerns.

South Carolina is one of two states where a selection commission of lawmakers chooses its judges – not the people. 

That commission, known as the Judicial Merit Selection Commission, is made up of 10 people, including lawyer-legislator Todd Rutherford, the same attorney who brokered early releases for convicted killer Jeroid Price and convicted kidnapper Alberto Romero Lopez. 

As for Solicitor Miller, he recently cleared one of many hurdles to become a judge when the SC Bar deemed him “qualified” earlier this month. The selection commission is accepting public complaints about Miller until noon today (Oct. 23), and that’s where our True Sunlight army comes in. 

It doesn’t matter if you’re an SC citizen or not, you can voice your concerns about David Miller before this man gets more power to do more harm. 

Here’s a sample of text you can use:

Dear Judicial Merit Session Commission, 

I am writing to you today regarding David Miller’s candidacy for judge in South Carolina. 

I do not believe he is a good candidate for judge due to his actions as second circuit solicitor that released kidnapper Alberto Romero Lopez from prison early and because he dropped some of the charges against Bowen Turner after one of Turner’s alleged victims, Dallas Stoller, died.

For a reminder, Bowen Turner allegedly raped three different teenage girls in three different SC counties between 2018 and 2019. You can watch the episode that went viral among our listeners.

Turner’s third victim, Chloe Bess, was assaulted while Turner was out on bond for allegedly assaulting Dallas Stoller. Six months before Dallas was assaulted, in April 2018 Turner allegedly raped another teenage victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous.

As the case against Bowen Turner dragged on with no hope, Dallas was bullied and victimized by people in her community that took Turner’s side. Dallas succumbed to self-inflicted injuries in November 2021 and charges against Turner were dismissed.

After Dallas’ death in April 2022, Turner, with the help of his state senator attorney Brad Hutto, was given a sweetheart deal of just 5 years probation after pleading guilty to assaulting Chloe Bess, even after violating his court ordered ankle monitor over 60 times.

Now, Dallas Stoller’s family are grieving over the pain of knowing Turner will be released from prison on November 15th of this year, which is the anniversary of Dallas Stoller’s death, Karl Stoller’s birthday, and Chloe Bess’s birthday. Chloe Bess and her mother Carol Green Bess found out about Turners release through Mandy’s social media posts.
