Alex is Indicted
Alex is indicted on 23 criminal charges relating to financial crimes. 
Alex is Found Guilty

Alex is found guilty for murdering Maggie and Paul. The jury deliberated for a little less than three hours prior to making their decision. 

Randolph Murdaugh III is Buried

Randolph Murdaugh III is buried in the Hampton Cemetery next to Maggie and Paul. 

John Marvin and Randy Appear on TV

John Marvin and Randy go on Good Morning America, where they say that they don’t believe Alex was involved with the homicides.

SLED Opens Their Stephen Smith Case

SLED announces that they are investigating Stephen Smith’s death due to information gathered during the double homicide investigation. That information has not been disclosed.

Alex and Buster Offer a Reward

Alex and Buster announce a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer or killers. The reward has an expiration date of September 20, 2021. 

SLED Interviews Alex

Alex is questioned by SLED, this time with his best friend and then-unknown financial crimes coconspirator Cory Fleming sitting in as his lawyer. David Owen tells Alex that he has not been ruled out in the murders. The same day, 14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone recuses his office from the investigation.

The Roadside Shooting

Alex fakes the roadside shooting. His story is immediately suspicious because he said he was going to Charleston, but he was going the wrong direction. Additionally, he said he stopped in the first place because he had a flat tire, but his car had run-flat tires. 

Alex Resigns from the Law Firm

Alex resigns from PMPED and goes to rehab for the opioid addiction. 

The South Carolina Supreme Court Suspends Alex

Alex is suspended from practicing law by the South Carolina Supreme Court.
