‘We’re Bringing Doofus Back’ As Russell Heads For Federal Court… Plus! Regina Ward’s COJ Was Sooooo Good!

Happy Sunday!

We had two really fiery episodes this week between @cojpod and @truesunlightpod so of course — great episodes always come with some sort of backlash because sometimes truth telling is upsetting to some people.  But you know what?  Let them talk.

I basically have a PHD in handling online backlash / abuse / harassment at this point and I have learned to prioritize my peace at all costs. It is not my responsibility to manage people’s emotional responses to the information I’m reporting and my opinions based on what I know.

Russell Laffitte’s lawyer Mark Moore is big mad at me and @elizfarrell in his Motion to request a state-wide jury for Russell Laffitte’s federal retrial… Call me a blogger if that makes you feel better. I won’t be bothered.

I LOVED that he used my word “doofus” in his recent motion for a state-wide jury panel. So nice of Alex Murdaugh’s banker bestie’s attorney. He really doesn’t like us pesky girls.

Its funny to us that the “community banker” wants to pool a jury from places farthest from his own “community”….?

We will continue to shine light on all these people… The good, the bad, the ugly…

On Cup of Justice #116 Liz and I sat down with Mica Francis’ divorce attorney Regina Ward of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to talk about Mica’s case and the dozens of lawsuits JP Miller has now filed against protesters and content creators. Last week, Regina filed an EXPLOSIVE response to one of the dozens of lawsuits now filed by JP and his cohorts. In his typical chaotic way, JP Miller has opened a Pandora’s Box and he’s not going to like what awaits him in court… Regina is bringing a full bore legal battle exposing the pastor’s potentially frivolous lawsuits, emphasizing the importance of proper evidence and procedure within the legal system… JP is in for a rude awakening.

On True Sunlight #86, Investigative journalists — aka “bloggers,” “viral podcasters,” “spewers of bilious screed” and “self-proclaimed journalists”— Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell continue their in-depth coverage of the Mica Francis case with the latest on Pastor JP Miller’s legal bullying of protesters and content creators. As JP seeks to once again take Jan Lancaster to court, Mandy and Liz explore the reasons why this one case should be considered separately from the solitary injustice happening with the rest of the protester-defendants. Plus, an update in the Christa Bauer Gilley case.

We also kicked off the year with a new monthly Premium episode of our Pesky Pick’s Q & A. In this bonus episode, the Luna Shark team and premium members volunteered to discuss the Amanda Knox documentary, highlighting the misguided and sensationalized media coverage of the case. The panel critiques journalist Nick Pisa’s role in promoting a false narrative and the Italian police for their lack of remorse and for manipulating the situation. We examined how Knox’s perceived personality and reactions were used against her, compounded by a language barrier and her youth. We explored the influence of reality TV and the objectification of women in the media. We emphasized the importance of critical thinking about media narratives, drawing comparisons with other documentaries and cases, noting that documentaries have an inescapable point of view. We also discussed Amanda Knox’s resilience and how she has become an agent of change, working to help other wrongfully convicted individuals. It was… a lot. And so much fun to interact with y’all!!  If you want to join the recording this month, email [email protected] so we can include you!

And we are happy to present our February Soundbites: Sopranos, Scandals, and Staying Pesky + Billboards, Blame, and a Whole Lot of Lawsuits. Resident Librarian, Kate Thomas, summarizes January 2025 activities at LUNASHARK Media, including Girl Talk episodes comparing Alex Murdaugh to Tony Soprano, the investigation into JP Miller’s recent court filings and his relationship with the Horry County Police Department, and efforts to gain justice for Stephen Smith using billboards to publicize Stephen’s unsolved homicide and the increased reward money. We’re also revisiting our AMAZING interview with Lt. Misty Carausu on Cup of Justice #114 about overcoming obstacles in investigations and how women can navigate a career in law enforcement.

Next week we have some big decisions to make on how to handle new information provided to us, but you can be sure we’ll make those decisions with victims at the forefront.  Stay tuned… because we are just getting started…

As always, your support is immensely appreciated and keeps us motivated to expose the truth wherever it leads, give voice to victims and get the story straight.

Stay Tuned, Stay Pesky, and Stay In The Sunlight… ☀️
