Join the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business and the University of Missouri for a conversation with journalist, author, podcast host, and CEO of Luna Shark Media, Mandy Matney, who will discuss her personal story about how being pesky and persistent paid off in her career as an investigative journalist. In a world that often rewards complacency, being pesky is a superpower that can expose truth and create change. Plus, Mandy will interweave lessons from her journey creating the overnight success of her #1 podcasts: Murdaugh Murders, True Sunlight and Cup of Justice, and her best-selling book, Blood on Their Hands.
This experience will showcase the power of independent media and thriving in the professional landscape while bypassing many of the legacy structures and impediments that continue to challenge professionals operating inside contemporary and “real world” media institutions. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about navigating ethical challenges in journalism and telling a compelling story.
Seating is very limited, but if you’re a Luna Shark Premium Member you can register soon. This insightful conversation will be recorded and broadcast to the Luna Shark Premium community.

BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS, by Mandy Matney
Mandy Matney’s highly anticipated book, Blood On Their Hands, was released November 14, 2023 and the paperback is available November 26, 2024. In this compelling work of investigative journalism, she exposes a network of horrific crimes perpetrated by Alex Murdaugh and others. The book acts as an excoriation of the “good ole boy” systems that enabled this network of criminals to operate. Through her relentless pursuit of truth, Matney delivers a captivating narrative that continues to unfold.
Mandy’s new book is about the challenges journalists face and lessons to overcome them so that public agencies can be held accountable. The Fall of the Murdaugh Dynasty is an example of what’s possible if journalists, public agencies and communities abandon fear and stand up to institutional corruption for victims.
