In March 2023, Alex Murdaugh was convicted of the murders of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. In 2026, the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned those convictions and ordered a new trial. This pre-trial hearing is one of several proceedings leading up to Murdaugh’s retrial, which is currently scheduled to begin on April 5, 2027.
